On Tuesday, October 27, the Maniatakeion Foundation, working with Mr. Konstantinos Demiris, Principal of the Koroni Gymnasium, and Mrs. Kalliopi Marantou, Principal of the Lyceum, held an awards ceremony to honor Koroni high school graduates who passed their university entrance examinations this year.

The 40-hour Meduproject 2009 Summer School in Methoni ended on Friday 28 August. The Meduproject programme started back in 2000 and is financed by the University of Bologna and Minoan Lines. The Meduproject trademark is a statue of Isis from the museum of Ancient Messene. Programme publications are financed by the former Minister of Economy, Dimitris Koulourianos, the National Research Foundation and the University of Bologna.

The 1st International Conference on Historical Memory and Economic Development, took place, with great success, in Athens and Koroni, Greece, on June 2-5, dates chosen to commemorate the 17th century treaty of Sapienza which transferred Koroni from the French to the Venetian Republic.

Where in Greece, about a week ago, one could have heard excerpts of a work by Fritz Kreissler, performed impromptu, by one of the world’s great violinists, on his Stradivarius, among the olive trees, under the moon, with a light breeze coming from the sea about a hundred meters away? This was in Koroni, the beautiful little Messinian town in Peloponissos, at the Maniatakis Grove, on August 10th.
