In 2014 on the initiative of Jannis Korinthios, ex Chairman of the Federation of Greek Communities and Brotherhoods of Italy, a request was submitted to the Presidents of the Greek and Cyprus Republic and a notification to UNESCO, regarding the establishment of the World Day of Greek Language and Greek Culture.
This claim is supported by the entire Diaspora in Italy and enjoys great response worldwide, in communities of the Diaspora and in philhellenic circles in Greece.
The proposal, furthermore supported by the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, the Municipal Councils of the Municipalities of Greece unanimously voted a resolution for the immediate establishment of the World Day of Greek Language and Greek Culture.
The Roman philosopher Cicero had said that "The language of the Gods is the Greek language" and the Russian writer Tolstoy "Without Greek studies there is no education".
Highlighting major issues concerning the history and culture of our country and the promotion of Greece and Hellenism is a strategic choice of the Maniatakeion Foundation that consequently supports the establishment of the World Day of Greek Language and Greek Culture. The concept of vision is not simply a matter of perception, but has a conceptual importance as well.
